I pretty much knew what this was going to be about… an underprivileged teen from the ghettos of New York City overcomes the odds to succeed. However, I really didn’t know how horribly the odds were stacked against her or what might constitute success in that situation. This is a well-acted, yet disturbing movie. I would never have wanted to pay to see it in a theater because of the abuse that is portrayed. The acting performances were terrific, but I definitely don’t want to see it again.
